The Independent Living Center of North Central Ohio is a non-residential agency offering services for individuals with disabilities that will allow them to remain active and independent within their homes and communities.
We envision a time when all Americans, including individuals with disabilities and the aging population, will be able to live at home, with the support they need, in an independent manner. We advocate and educate for inclusion in a society that will respect and value the contributions of all individuals, including those with a disability.
Disability inclusion means understanding the relationship between the way people function and how they participate in society and making sure everybody has the same opportunities to participate in every aspect of life to the best of their abilities and desires.
We support public policy that strengthens civil rights. Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and the Landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ensure that citizen with disabilities enjoy the same liberties as those without disabilities, guaranteeing access to housing, transportation, employment, healthcare, and education, whether physical or programmatic.
